NORFOLK, VA—The Old Dominion University women’s golf program is gaining national recognition. The freshmen duo of Maggie Simmermacher (Buenos Aires, Argentina) and Katerina Vlasinova (Trebic, Czech Republic) rank 19th nationally in Golfstat’s  freshman class impact ranking.

“Maggie and Kate have made an immediate impact on our team,” said ODU head coach Andy Crabtree.  “They are learning what it takes to compete in college golf, and I am excited to see them off to a good start and having success.  The sky is the limit for the both of them and they make a great one-two punch.  I think they have the commitment and work ethic to continue developing their golf games in the future.”

Simmermacher was named the Conference USA Women’s Golfer of the Week after a fourth place finish at the Lady Pirate Invitational. She also finished -2 under par to tie for 32nd out of 150 participants at the World Amateur Team Championships at the Karuizawa Golf Club in Japan while representing her native Argentina. Vlasinova tied for 9th at Golfweek Challenge and sixth at the Fighting Camel Fall Classic.
