BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (2-1) travels to Virginia Tech (3-1) for a Tuesday, Nov. 25th tipoff at 7:00 p.m. at Cassell Coliseum.

Audio of Tuesday’s contest will be streamed through Monarch Media on ODUSports.com and will also air live on ESPN Radio 94.1 Hampton Roads with Ted Alexander (Director of Broadcasting) handling the duties.
ALL-TIME SERIES: 24-8 in favor of Old Dominion. The last two times these two schools met, the Hokies prevailed by a score of 73-61 at the Ted Constant Center on Nov. 11, 2013. Two seasons ago on Nov. 9 2012, the Lady Monarchs held VA Tech to just 35 points, in ODU’s 55-35 win in Norfolk, Va.
MEET THE OLD DOMINION LADY MONARCHS (2-1) C-USA
Old Dominion enters Tuesday’s contest with a 2-1 overall record after defeating Presbyterian (41-26) and cross-town rival William & Mary (66-58). ODU’s only loss came at the hands of No. 7 nationally ranked Duke (82-66).
Presbyterian’s 26 points is the fewest points against by an ODU opponent since playing at the Ted Constant Convocation Center. For the game, Presbyterian shot just 22.4% (11-49) from the floor and 5.3% (1-19) from three.
Against Duke, three Lady Monarchs scored in double figures. Minor led the way with 16 points, including 4-of-9 from beyond the arc, followed by Painter with 14 points and Simms with 12 points and a team-high six boards.
Three games into the season, WVU transfer Jennie Simms has led the way for the Lady Monarchs averaging 13 points and 6.3 rebounds. Redshirt senior Chelisa Painter also averages double-figures, going for 12 points and 6.0 boards per contest. Tiffany Minor enters the game just under the 10-point per game mark, as she averages 9.7 points to go along with 6.3 rebounds.
Old Dominion is averaging holding its opponents to 55.3 points per game on 39.4% shooting, while forcing 15 turnovers a contest. The Lady Monarchs have had success on the boards early on this season, averaging 40.3 a game for a +4.7 rebounding average.
MEET THE VIRGINIA TECH HOKIES (3-1) ACC
Virginia Tech enters Tuesday’s game on a three game winning streak and 3-1 overall record with wins over UMES (63-41), Norfolk State (60-49) and at Providence (72-69). The Hokies lone loss came at George Mason by a score of 69-77.
VT returns three starters and adds seven newcomers from last season’s roster. Through four games, the Hokies currently have four players averaging double figures: Regan Magarity (15.3 ppg, 10.8 rpg), Rachel Camp (13.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg), Taijah Campbell (10.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Vanessa Panousis (10.0 ppg, 2.8 rpg). Last season, Panousis set the Tech freshman record for three-pointers made with 58, breaking a record that had stood for more than 20 years.
Sidney Cook recently had her waiver granted by the NCAA in order to play this season and in her first game in a VT uniform, Cook scored five points and hauled down five boards.
NEXT UP FOR THE LADY MONARCHS
Tuesday’s game against VT will be Old Dominion’s last before Thanksgiving. The Lady Monarchs will be back in action on Sunday, Nov. 30 against Rider at the Ted constant Convocation Center. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 p.m.
