Saturday marks Old Dominion’s final home game of the season as the Monarchs host Louisiana Tech at 1 p.m. The game will be the final home contest for ODU’s 156seniors. Today is the third of three parts highlighting this year’s senior class.
Today we look at the seniors on offense.
Taylor Heinicke • QB • 6-1, 213 • Atlanta, Ga.
Heinicke holds 34 school records and ranks fifth in the FBS career rankings for total offense, seventh in passing yards and fifth in touchdown passes. Heinicke has passed for 14,375 yards and has 15,715 yards of total offense. This season, Heinicke is 228-of-367 for 2,892 yards and 25 touchdowns passes. He has also rushed for 159-yards and two touchdowns. Heinicke won the 2012 Walter Payton Award when he set FCS records with 5,076 passing yards and 398 completions. He also won the Dudley Award in 2012 given to the top Division I Player in the state of Virginia, and was the runner-up in 2013.
Josh Mann • C • 6-4, 302 • Virginia Beach, Va.
A three-year starter, Mann has started 33 career games at center for the Monarchs. A team captain, Mann has been in charge of making the line calls and checks for the last three years. He was ODU’s nominee for the NFF Hampshire Scholar-Athlete Award and earned CoSIDA Academic All-District accolades.
Antonio Vaughan • 5-9, 172 • Ahoskie, N.C.
A four-year starter, Vaughan holds school records for receptions, receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, total touchdowns and all-purpose yards. Vaughan has 48 receptions for a C-USA best 883-yards and 11 touchdowns, which is tied for second in the nation. He ranks in the top-10 among active receivers in receptions and yards, and is tied for first in touchdown catches with Justin Hardy of East Carolina, with 32.
