NEW ORLEANS – Old Dominion University quarterback Taylor Heinicke was named one of eight Manning Award Stars of the Week.
Heinicke engineered his eighth career fourth quarter comeback in ODU’s 38-35 win over FIU, as the Monarchs scored 10 points in the last 1:05. Heinicke completed a fourth and three to Gerard Johnson to set up Ray Lawry’s two-yard TD run and a 24-yarder to Zach Pascal that set up Satchel Ziffer’s game-winning field goal.
A native of Atlanta, Ga., Heinicke was 20-of-35 for 315 yards and a pair of touchdown passes while also rushing for 52-yards and a touchdown. It was his 25th career 300-yard passing game and his season-high for rushing yards.
