The Monarchs sailed in three different events this weekend. Old Dominion was away this past weekend at the MAISA South Dinghy Fall Qualifier hosted by St. Mary’s College in Maryland. They also traveled to the Coast Guard Academy in Conn. for the Danmark Trophy, as well as the MAISA Women’s Fall Dinghy in Annapolis, M.D.
At the MAISA South Dinghy Fall Qualifier, the Monarchs placed fifth overall out of 15 teams. In the Division A boat, Augie Dale and Travis Carlisle finished fourth with six top-three finishes out of 15 heats, including one first-place result. Jake Spracher, Joseph David and Carter Little finished the weekend fifth in the Division B boats. They had three top-three finishes, also out of 15 heats.
In New London, Conn., the Monarchs finished 17th of 20 teams in the Danmark Trophy. In the Division A boat, Estaban Forrer, Kaylie Gallagher, and Gabriel Smith finished 16th with one top-five showing. Daniel Lochner and Grace Mason came in 17th in the Division B boat, with two top-five finishes.
The Monarchs finished fourth overall out of 14 teams in the MAISA Women’s Fall Dinghy regatta in Annapolis. In the Division A boat, Andrea Luna, Collin Voigt, and Katelyn Talley took third which included eight top-three finishes out of 14 races. In Division B, Sarah Streater and Cady Johnson finished seventh for the weekend, notching two top-three finishes in their division.
The Sailing Monarchs will be back on the water next weekend when they compete in the Navy Fall Women’s regatta, the Van Duyne/MAISA Men’s Single’s and the Hobart/WS Fall regatta.
