WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Old Dominion freshman Borislava Botusharova (Pazardzhik, Bulgaria) advanced to the Championship of the 2014 Wake Forest Invitational this past weekend in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Botusharova handled her business in straight sets in all three of her opening matches, earning her a spot in the title match of the A Single’s Bracket, where she fell to Alizee Michaud of Stetson (6-3, 6-4). Back in September, Botusharova claimed third place at the Cissie Leary Invitational, hosted by UPenn. According to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, Botusharova is the No. 6 ranked Newcomer/Freshman in the entire NCAA.
Marijana Novakovic also competed in the A Bracket and went 2-1 in her three matches this weekend.
After losing her first match, Ivana Vukovic won two in a row to advance to the consolation finals in the C Single’s Bracket, in which the match wasn’t played.

The Lady Monarchs will wrap up the month of October at NCAA Regional’s, which will be held October 17-20.
