CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Old Dominion men’s tennis team is set to compete in the UVA Fall Classic this weekend in Charlottesville, Va. Action is slated to begin on Friday, Oct. 3 and run through Sunday, Oct. 5.

While No. 42 Carlos Lopez Villa plays in the 2014 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships Main Draw starting Thursday in Tulsa, Okla., the rest of the Tennis Monarchs squad will take part in the UVA Fall Classic.

Last weekend at the Elon Invitational, ODU’s true freshman Adam Moundir was crowned champion of the A1 Singles Draw bracket. Javier Jover also advanced to the championship match of his respected bracket before falling in a tight three setter.

Also in the A1 Singles Draw bracket, was Old Dominion’s Michael Weindl who claimed victory in his first two matches advancing him to the semifinals; however, Weindl fell to Randy Phillips in the round of four.

In the A2 Doubles Draw, Weindl teamed up with teammate Theophile Lanthiez to win their first match and earn a spot in the semifinals, which they would end up losing 8-4 to JMU’s Ruzic/Salinas, who ultimately went on to win the A2 Doubles Draw bracket.
