NORFOLK, Va. – After what turned out to be a one hour and thirty minute rain delay, the Old Dominion University women’s soccer team played in their third consecutive match which entailed overtime and for the second time this season came away with a 1-1 draw. The tie pulls ODU to a 0-2-2 overall record, while Campbell now moves to 1-2-1.

In the seventh minute of play, Jessie Klamut beat a couple Campbell defenders and then stuck her shot towards the near post and past the goalkeeper to give the Lady Monarchs a 1-0 lead. The goal was Klamut’s second of the season.

The first half saw Old Dominion dominate the shot-count, 7-3, as well as the corner kicks, 3-0; however, neither keeper collected a save in the first 45 minutes of action.

The Fighting Camels struck with just 2:10 remaining in regulation when Payton Ormsby deflected a Meredith Lenox clear which ended up finding the back of ODU’s net, tying the match at 1-1 and forcing overtime.

The Lady Monarchs outshot Campbell 18-8 in regulation and led the corner kick count 6-1.

In overtime, Old Dominion fired off three shots to Campbell’s two; however, none of those five shots would find the onion bag and left the two teams at a 1-1 stalemate on Thursday night at the ODU Soccer Complex.

For the game, ODU took 21 shots, Campbell attempted 10. Meredith Lenox finished the contest with three saves and Alexis Connors made four saves for the Fighting Camels.
