ODU Returns Home: vs. WKU (Fri.) & vs. Marshall (Sun. - PINK OUT)

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team (2-6-2, 1-1-0) returns home after six consecutive road games for home contests this Friday against Western Kentucky (6-2-0, 1-0-0) at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday versus Marshall (3-4-2, 0-1-0) at 1:00 p.m. Both matches will be held at the ODU Soccer Complex and Sunday’s match will mark ODU’s Breast Cancer Awareness game, in which the Lady Monarchs will wear pink jerseys.

After a six game road swing, the Lady Monarchs finally get to defend their home pitch this weekend for the first time since Sept. 4. Friday’s game will be broadcasted live by Old Dominion Director of Broadcasting, Ted Alexander on play-by-play and former Lady Monarch goalkeeper, Colby Owen handling color duties. Most recently, Old Dominion is coming off a 2-1 victory at FAU behind goals from Madison Hogan and Melanie Oakes. For Oakes, it was her second goal in as many games, as she now has five points (one assist) for the season.

Jessie Klamut leads the Lady Monarchs with nine points off four goals, while Hogan has three goals to go along with one assist.

Meet WKU – Friday at 7:00 p.m.
Western Kentucky enters Friday night’s match with a 6-2-0 overall record and is 1-0-0 in conference play after taking down Marshall 1-0 on Sept. 27 in Huntington.

Lauren Moats leads the Hilltoppers in points with nine and goals with four so far this season.

Allison Leone has played all 726 minutes in goal for Western Kentucky, allowing just 0.62 goals per game on average, while compiling 40 saves on the season.

Six of WKU’s nine goal have occurred in the second half of play this season. The Hilltoppers were picked to finish ninth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll.

Meet Marshall – Sunday at 1:00 p.m. – Breast Cancer Awareness Game (Pink Out)
The Thundering Herd will enter this weekend’s contest with a 3-4-2 overall record and a 0-1-0 mark in C-USA play. Marshall will take on Charlotte in Charlotte this Friday before making the trip to Norfolk for Sunday’s contest. Earlier this season, Marshall played VCU to a 3-3 tie.

Kristine Culicerto leads Marshall with 11 points on five goals, while teammate Erin Simmons has tallied seven points off three goals.

Goalkeeper Lizzie Kish has played all 847 minutes protecting the net for the Thundering Herd, while allowing an average of 1.49 goals per game and collecting a total of 20 saves in the process.

Marshall was picked to finish seventh in the Conference USA Preseason Poll.
