NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University senior Antonio Vaughan was named the College Football Performance Awards National Punt Returner of the Week, the CFPA announced on Tuesday.
A native of Ahoskie, N.C., Vaughan returned two punts for 70-yards in ODU’s 17-3 win over Eastern Michigan, including a 46-yard return that put ODU on top 17-3. Earlier in the game, he returned a punt 51-yards for a touchdown, but it was called back for a penalty.
Vaughan became the first Monarch in school history to return two punts for touchdowns and is just nine receptions from passing Nick Mayers as the school’s all-time leader.
The Monarchs open Conference USA play on Saturday by traveling to Rice for the first C-USA game in school history on Saturday, Sept. 20.
