Monarchs Host Longwood Tuesday Night

NORFOLK, VA- The ODU Soccer Monarchs (2-2), winners of two straight host the Lancers of Longwood Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Complex at 7 pm. Tickets are $5 for adults, $4 for faculty staff, military, youth and senior citizens. Follow the action with livestreaming on Monarch Media.

ODU’s solid defense has allowed only two goals, both by nationally ranked Virginia and North Carolina. Red-shirt sophomore goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen has 22 total saves and a 0.50 goals against average along with two straight shutouts with the help of defenders Skylar Hagan, Michael Nelson, David Macsicza and Nicholas Hutchinson.

The Monarchs defeated South Florida, 1-0 on a goal from Ryan Condotta with 1:40 left in the match. Condotta is the Monarchs leading scorer with a goal and an assist for three total points.

SERIES: ODU leads the series, 3-0.  The two teams last played in 2009 with a 2-0 ODU win.

ABOUT LONGWOOD (1-2-1): The Lancers are coached by Jon Atkinson who is in his 10th season as head coach. Longwood is led in scoring by sophomore Vaughan Fowler with one goal and one assist from three points.

OTHER NOTES: Ryan Condotta and Geoffrey Hill are tied for second in C-USA with one game-winning goal each. Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Tiesenhausen’s 0.50 goals against average  and 22 saves rank second in the league. Tiesenhausen’s save percentage leads C-USA at .917.  

After Tuesday night, the Monarchs host former CAA rival UNC Wilmington Saturday night at 7 p.m.
