ASHLAND, VA-Randolph-Macon head baseball coach Ray Hedrick has announced the addition of former ODU Baseball Monarch Austin McGowan to the Yellow Jacket staff.
McGowan will work with the infielders and hitters as well assisting with recruiting, academic support and camps.
This past summer, McGowan was an assistant coach for the Strasburg Express in the Valley League. He coached first base and mentored the infielders and hitters.
During the 2013-14 year, McGowan was the Director of Baseball Operations at the University of Richmond. He was responsible for day-to-day operations, travel and meals, fall/summer camps and maintenance of the recruiting database.
McGowan was a four-year letter winner at Old Dominion. The infielder appeared in 124 games with 24 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 34 RBI. McGowan graduated in 2013 with a degree in sports management,
A native of Richmond, McGowan helped James River High School win consecutive state titles in 2007 and 2008.
McGowan has also worked with Richmond Baseball Academy West and Tuckahoe Sports Inc.
