NORFOLK, VA— ODU junior midfield Ryan Condotta (Keller, TX.) scored an early first half goal to put the Soccer Monarchs up, 1-0, but Duke rallied behind three second half goals from Jimmy Doll to defeat the Monarchs, 6-1 Saturday night in an exhibition opener for both teams at the ODU Soccer Complex.
The Monarchs opened the scoring at the 25 minute mark of the game when junior midfielder Geoffrey Hill (Frisco, TX.) hit Condotta off a deflection for the score. Duke tied the match with nine minutes left in the first half on a goal from Eggleston. Doll scored all three of his goals in the second half.
The Monarchs, ranked pre-season No. 25 returns to action on Wednesday when they play at pre-season No. 17 Coastal Carolina in an exhbition match at 4 p.m.
