SALEM, VA-- Old Dominion University Lady Monarch Golfer Lauren Eklund (Charlottesville, VA.)shot 77-84=161 in stroke play to qualify for match play at the 89th Virginia State Golf Association Women's Amateur Championship being conducted at Hidden Valley Country Club. The top 16 qualify for match play.
Eklund played Marin Warring of Williamsburg in the first round of match play Thursday and lost 4 & 3.
The first and quarterfinal rounds of match play are set for Thursday, July 10 followed by the semifinals and scheduled 18-hole final on Friday, July 11.
Charlottesville’s Lauren Coughlin, 21, posted her second straight round of 1-over-par 73 to earn medalist honors.
