FREEMAN & LARSEN NAMED TO NABC ACADEMIC HONORS COURT
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Old Dominion University men’s basketball players Trey Freeman(Virginia Beach, VA.) and Anton Larsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) have been selected to the 2013-14 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court, recognizing those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. The NABC Honors Court recognizes the talents and gifts that these men possess off the court and the hard work they exhibit in the classroom. A record number 895 student-athletes from 338 colleges and universities earned NABC Honors Court distinction.
Larsen, completed his career at ODU graduating with a degree in international business with a concentration in Maritime Supply Chain Management. Larsen played in 18 games this year for the Monarchs with two starts, averaging 1.2 points per game and 1.2 rebounds per game.
Freeman, a rising junior at ODU is majoring in public relations. He sat out this past season after two years at Campbell where he averaged 14.2 points, 4.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game. Freeman earned Big South All-Conference honors in 2013 and was the Big South Freshman of the Year and CollegeInsider.com Freshman All-American in 2012. Freeman led the Big South and ranked 26th nationally in free throw percentage at .871 in 2013.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:
1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
