NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University senior Sidni Hoxha was named a College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-American while Reed Mathews and Rachel Eckert earned honorable mention CSCAA All-American accolades.
CSCAA Individual Scholar All-America Award
The Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a cumulative, or term grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the academic term coinciding with their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships and have qualified for and competed at the Championship.
The Honorable Mention Scholar All-America Award is presented to college and university swimmers and divers who have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester, or cumulative average, and have achieved a "B" time standard but did not qualify or compete in their respective national championship. Divers qualify by competing at their respective championship qualifying meets, zones or NCAA preliminary rounds.
A native of Albania, Hoxha qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle and graduates with eight school records, including the 50, 100 and 200. Hoxha graduated with a degree in civil engineering.
Mathews holds the school record in the 200 Fly and notched an NCAA B-cut time in that event. He finished second in the event at the Conference USA Championships. Mathews is majoring in engineering.
Eckert won the Conference USA Championship in the 1-meter dive and took second in the 3-meter dive, setting ODU records in both events. She is majoring in exercise science.
