ST. MARY'S, Md. - Old Dominion University sailing took sixth place at the Gill Nationals Championships, finishing just three points out of fifth and four points behind fourth place.
The Monarchs qualified for the finals after placing second in the west division semifinals and were with the leaders right up until the end.
The Division A team of Esteban Forrer, Gabriel Smith and Julia Wiesner earned a fourth place slot. The group had 11 top-10 runs with their highest finish a third place spot in the second to last race of the day.
In Division B, Andrea Luna, Rachel Austin and Chloe Constants took home a ninth place finish. They completed eight top-10 races with three third place runs.
