Seattle Picks Ryan Yarbrough In 4th Round

NORFOLK, VA—Old Dominion University’s senior lefthander Ryan Yarbrough (Lakeland, FL.) was selected in the fourth round (111th overall pick) by the Seattle Mariners in today’s Baseball draft.  He is the highest Monarch selected since righthander Donnie Smith went in the fourth round of the 2004 draft to the St. Louis Cardinals.

Yarbrough compiled a 6-7 (4.50) record with 64 strikeouts in 86 innings of work.  He won four games in a row at one point this season and fanned seven batters in a game against Middle Tennessee  and Rutgers. He pitched a complete game in a win against UTSA and 8 innings in a victory over Charlotte. Four times this season, Yarbrough would not issue a walk in seven innings of work or more.  He completed his two-year career with a 3.89 ERA.
