ODU PRO BASEBALL UPDATE
Ryan Yarbrough (’14) is pitching for the Pulaski Mariners in the Appalachian Rookie League. The lefthander made his pro debut Friday night in a 6-4 win over Burlington in which he got the save.
Connor Overton (’14) is pitching for the Batavia Muckdogs of the New York Penn League. As of Sunday, he had not pitched.
Ben Verlander (’13) is playing outfielder for the Connecticut Tigers in the New York-Penn League. Verlander started the season with West Michigan in the Midwest League where he hit .208 with one homer and 23 RBI in 56 games.
Kyle Hald (’11) is currently 27-19 in his minor league career and is 6-2 for Springfield, the Cardinals AA team in the Texas League .with a 3.12 ERA. In 11 starts, Hald had 48 strikeouts in 69.1 innings. The All-CAA pitcher fanned eight against Arkansas in seven innings and seven against Tulsa in seven innings of work.
Dan Hudson (‘08) – Arizona Diamondbacks has transferred Daniel Hudson to the 60-day disabled list. Hudson has compiled a 28-17 four-year Major League career with 2011 his best at 16-12 with a 3.49 ERA for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He was also named the National League’s Silver slugger winner as the best hitting pitcher at .277 with one homer and 14 RBI. The All-CAA pitcher and Freshman All-American is coming back from his second Tommy John surgery.
