IRVING, Texas – Becca Allison, Old Dominion’s 5-foot-8 senior guard from Edinburgh, Scotland, has been named an honoree of the C-USA Spirit of Service Award, as announced today by Conference USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service Award is presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's winter sports: men's and women's basketball, women's swimming and diving, men's and women's indoor track and field.
BECCA ALLISON
The senior co-captain finished her career at Old Dominion with: 513 points, 210 rebounds, 138 assists and 66 steals. This season, Becca scored a career high of 17 points against UMass Lowell. The 5’8 redshirt senior also dished out a career high of 6 assists against LA Tech, a few months ago.
The Edinburgh-native went well above and beyond what was asked from her in regards to giving back to the community.
This season, Allison helped lead the festivities at the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event, held annually in Virginia, Beach Va. Becca was instrumental in donating books to less fortunate children through the Military Book Drive on Nov. 7. The 5’8 right-hander did numerous different tasks not only at the Homecoming Parade during the day but also at the Homecoming Dance that same night. ODU’s feisty guard appeared at the NPS Education Day/Day of Partnership program, helping schools in need in the surrounding communities.
On Jan. 20, Allison gathered the rest of her team to partake in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Then on Feb. 26, Allison was the only member of the team to not only travel to but also run the show at Indian River’s HYPE Mentor Program and Career Fair. Most recently on March 28, ‘Bex’ handled a lot of behind the scenes work at Chesterfield Academy’s Career Day.
Allison has possessed a GPA of 3.0 or higher in six of her semesters at ODU and has also been a Dean's List recipient as a sports management major with a marketing minor.
