NORFOLK, VA--Senior designated hitter Ben Slaton had two hits for ODU, but Wofford scored three runs in the top of the ninth to defeat the Monarchs 4-1 Tuesday evening on Baseball Service Appreciation night at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. Both teams are 19-14 on the season.

The Terriers took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Luke Feisal singled in Seth Neely. In the ODU sixth, Ben Slaton singled with one out and advanced to second on a wild pitch. PJ Higgins reached on an infield hit and Slaton would score from third on a wild pitch to tie the score at 1-1.

The Monarchs loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh with Josh Eldridge on after a lead-off double and Nick Walker and Jordan Negrini reaching base with two out walks, but they were left stranded.

In the Wofford ninth, pinchhitter James Plaisted singled with the bases loaded to bring home Eric Brenk and give Wofford a 2-1 lead. The Terriers then scored two more unearned runs to complete the scoring for a 4-1 lead.

Tyler Urps led off the ODU ninth with a hit, but Eck fanned two of the next three Monarch hitters to pick up his eighth save of the season.

Josh Hyman, Eric Brenk and Luke Feisal each had two hits for Wofford. Both squads finished with eight hits each. ODU left 10 batters on base.

The same two teams play again Wednesday at 4:05 pm at the Bud Metheny Complex.
