NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs (19-13) ranked 12th nationally in fielding begin a five-game home stand Tuesday against Wofford (18-14) from the Southern Conference. Tuesday's game which is Baseball Service Appreciation Game is at 6 p.m. and Wednesday's game will be at 4 p.m. The Monarchs will then host ECU in a three-game C-USA series beginning Friday.
Tickets for Tuesday night are $3.00 tickets for all service members.
Wofford enters the contest with an 18-14 record and one of the nation's top basestealing teams with 97 in 117 attempts. Infielder Alec Paradowski leads the Terriers with a .300 batting average followed by Seth Neely at .283 with four homers and 18 RBI. Outfielder Josh Hyman has four homers and 19 RBI. ODU leads the series 2-0, beating Wofford twice in Spartanburg, SC. last year.
Wofford will start righthander Connell Anderson (1-2/3.86) on Tuesday and righthander Jordan Accetta (3-1/5.95) on Wednesday.
The ODU Monarchs are scheduled to throw sophomore righthander Tommy Alexander (1-0/4.96) on Tuesday and junior righthander Greg Tomchick (1-1/4.82) on ) and appearances (19). As a team, ODU is tied for second in total saves (10) and seventh in ERA (3.40). Andy Roberts is second in runners picked-off with six.
The Monarchs continue to lead C-USA in fielding at .979 and ranked 12th nationally.
