ODU Hosts No. 9 Johns Hopkins Wednesday at 4

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team hosts No. 9-ranked Johns Hopkins this Wednesday at 4 p.m. from the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

This past weekend in Colorado Old Dominion (3-11) led Colorado the entire first half, but were held scoreless for a little more than 20 minutes in the second half and fell 12-10. On Sunday ODU trailed 12-3 at the half to No. 20 Denver and lost 18-6 with Christina Rea scoring three goals to lead the Lady Monarchs.

Senior co-captain Emily Austerberry scored her 100th career point on her first of five goals on the weekend. ODU has played in nine games decided by four goals or less.

ODU senior defender Kallie McCormick is second on the team with 21 draw controls and is tied for first on the Lady Monarchs with 27 ground balls, while senior co-captain Emily Austerberry leads ODU with 28 draw controls, 33 goals and 43 points on 67 shots. Freshman goalkeeper Maggi Buckley is 2-5 and has a 12.89 goals against average and .421 save percentage.

Previous Meeting: Feb. 16, 2013- The Lady Monarchs began the 2013 season against No. 19-ranked Johns Hopkins and lost 20-10 from JHU. ODU's Ashmore Standing led the way with three goals, while Nicole Bellini put two in the back of the net. Christina Rea and Jessica Liberty also added one each.

Johns Hopkins Players to Watch: Senior attacker Taylor D'Amore leads Johns Hopkins with 43 goals and 35 assists on 87 shots. Senior midfielder Sammy Cermack leads the team with 39 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers. Sophomore midfielder Dene' DiMartino is second on the Blue Jays with 39 goals and 45 points. Junior goalkeeper KC Emerson is 9-1 with a 7.01 goals against average and a .487 save percentage.

Scouting the Blue Jays: JHU is 12-3 and is currently ranked No. 9 in the country. Their highest ranking was No. 7 just a week ago until they lost to Penn State 12-10 in State College. In that game D'Amore scored four goals and Cermack contributed three. JHU began the season 10-0 and have lost three games by either one or two goals (12-11 at Vanderbilt, 10-9 vs. Florida).
