NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University field hockey team hosts American University, the University of Richmond and Duke University this Saturday from the L.R. Hill Sports Complex beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Schedule for Saturday, April 5 ODU Play Day

Where: L.R Hill Sports Complex, Norfolk, Virginia

11:00-11:30 American vs. ODU

11:45-12:15 Richmond vs. Duke

12:30-1:00  American vs. Duke

1:15-1:45 American vs. Richmond

2:00-2:30 ODU vs. Richmond

2:45-3:15 ODU vs. Duke

*Each game will be two periods and consist of 15 minutes each period.

Teams:

Old Dominion University

2014 Spring Record: 2-0-2

ODU Wins: William & Mary 4-0, Virginia 2-0

Ties: UNC 1-1 (1-0 loss in shootout), Duke 0-0, (2-0 loss in shootout)

ODU Player Update: Junior forward Cassandra Wagner has 1 goal and three assists in both wins for the Lady Monarchs. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Breen, junior forward Katy Fuhrman, junior forward Rosario Villagra, freshman forward Casey Dolan and junior forward Nicole Goff all have one goal this spring. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Megan Hept has allowed one goal in four games, which have included three shutouts.

American University

2013 Finish: 15-6, NCAA Appearance

Returning Team Leaders:

Junior midfielder Grace Wilson- 10 goals, 3 assists- 23 points

Junior midfielder Carly Atchison- 4 goals, 11 assists- 19 points

ODU defeated American last season on September 1 by a 2-1 final in overtime from the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Villagra scored the game-winner, and First-Team All-American Christy Longacre scored the first goal while ODU outshot American 22-7.

University of Richmond

2013 Finish: 14-7, Atlantic 10 Semifinals

Returning Team Leaders:

Junior midfielder Rebecca Barry- 16 goals, 8 assists- 40 points

Sophomore forward Taylor Deitrick- 9 goals, 1 assist- 19 points

Freshman forward Emma Johansson- 9 goals, 1 assist- 19 points

Richmond lost in a shootout to No. 5 Virginia 2-1, lost in overtime to Wake Forest 1-0 and lost to No. 12 Massachusetts last season by a 2-1 shootout loss. The Spiders did not face Old Dominion or Duke but lost to American by a 2-1 overtime score to begin last season.

Duke University

2013 Finish: 17-7, NCAA Finalist

Returning Team Leaders:

Junior forward Jessica Buttinger- 8 goals, 4 assists- 20 points

Freshman forward Heather Morris- 8, goals -16 points

Junior midfielder Abby Beltrani- 3 goals, 10 assists- 16 points

Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Blazing- 17-7, 1.48 GAA, .742 SV%, 3 shutouts

ODU tied Duke last Saturday as the game went to a shootout. In the extra session Duke goaltender Lauren Blazing managed to stop ODU as the Blue Devils won the shootout 1-0.

Up next for the Lady Monarchs: ODU hosts their Annual Alumni Game next Saturday, April 12 from the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Time TBD.
