NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University men’s tennis team will return to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center this weekend for two home matches against Bucknell on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. and then on Sunday at 11:00 a.m., ODU will take on No. 59 Cornell.
The Tennis Monarchs boast an 8-4 overall record and defeated the one conference opponent they faced this year in UTSA (4-3).
Old Dominion is led by No. 56 Carlos Lopez Villa, who has played No. 1 singles for the Monarchs throughout the season. Lopez Villa is 11-1 on the season. Zvonimir Podvinski has also been terrific for ODU, as he is currently 9-3 in singles play.

About Bucknell:
-Team record: 0-5
-Interim head coach is Craig Schwartz, who was named interim head coach in December of 2013 after spending 2012-13 season as an assistant at Bucknell. Prior to Bucknell, Schwartz spent five years prior as head coach of Queens College where he led four of those teams to NCAA Round of 16 appearances.
-Buckenll is highlighted by sophomore Nick Bybel who currently holds a 15-7 overall singles record (12-5 tournaments) (5-2 duals) and is on a two-game winning streak.
-Bucknell is looking to bounce back after dropping a hard-fought 5-2 defeat at the hands of UMBC last Friday.
About No. 59 Cornell:
-Team record: 7-4
-Currently riding two-game winning streak after a 5-2 victory over No. 50 Nebraska on March 1.
-Ranked No. 59 in latest ITA poll.
-Head Coach is Silviu Tanasoiu in his third season at the helm at Cornell. Tanasoui led the team to a 14-8 record last season. He spent the five years prior as an assistant at Oklahoma and was named ITA Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year in both 2010 and 2011.
-Cornell’s Stefan Vinti has a 6-1 singles record in the No. 1 slot for the Big Red.
