NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team will take part in four games throughout this spring season under first year Lady Monarch head coach, Angie Hind.
Hind commented, “The spring season will be the first opportunity for me to work with the returning squad of players. We obviously have a relatively young group but with experience in some key areas. This is a great group of young women who seem very eager to develop themselves as soccer players and athletes but also have a very tangible closeness as a team. In my experience if you have a group of players who enjoy each other, are ready to be challenged and have the work-rate and desire to succeed then you have the basics of what you require to do well. “
Hind continued, “The spring will be a time for me to get to know the players better, and for them to understand how I want to work. My focus will be to develop us athletically, technically, and create a positive environment where we can help improve and challenge each other on a daily basis.”
The Lady Monarchs started their spring season by taking on the Tribe of William and Mary last Sunday at the ODU Soccer Complex. This Saturday, Old Dominion travels to Farmville to take on Longwood at 2:00 p.m.
The second half of the spring season will take place on April 6th in Richmond, Va. to square-off with the Rams from Virginia Commonwealth University at 12:00 p.m. The Lady Monarch’s spring season’s grand finale will take place on April 25th against UVA on at 7:30 p.m. at a venue yet to be determined in Williamsburg, Va.
Hind concluded, “The games we have lined up for the spring are all against very strong opponents and therefore the games fit in perfectly with our focus for the spring. In my opinion you only grow from challenging yourself and that is exactly what we will be doing against these teams.”
