ODU Visits American University Saturday at 1

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team begins a road trip Saturday, March 22 at 1 p.m. against American University.

ODU (3-5) defeated Saint Joseph's by an 18-11 final last Sunday. Old Dominion received five goals from senior attacker Emily Austerberry, four goals from junior midfielder Christina Rea, three goals from junior attacker Jessica Liberty and two goals each from Connor Carson, Ashmore Standing and Megan Cameron.

"I think our team is deciding to play right now," said ODU Head Coach Heather Holt. "We have to continue to put our game together for a full 60 minutes and put together what we learn in practice. I think our team is starting to do and realizing that it's important to do that for the whole game that leading up to this weekend."

Austerberry leads the Lady Monarchs with 26 points and 18 goals. Liberty leads Old Dominion with nine assists and is second on the team with 24 points. Senior defender Kallie McCormick leads ODU with 21 ground balls played.

Series Record: ODU Leads 19-3. First meeting was in 1992.

Previous Meeting: Old Dominion defeated American by a 15-11 score at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Christina Rea scored five goals for the Lady Monarchs, while Emily Austerberry added four goals on six shots that day.

American Players to Watch: Sophomore midfielder Olivia Managan leads the Eagles with nine assists and 20 points on the season. Senior midfielder Emily Maher leads American with 13 goals and 20 draw controls. Freshman goaltender Jackie Ferri and senior goaltender Ashley Dalisera share the time in net as Ferri is 1-2 with a 9.47 goals against average and Dalisera is 1-4 with a 12.22 gaa.

Scouting the Eagles: In their previous game American lost to Holy Cross 9-7. Maher scored three goals, Managan and Jessic Wojciechowski eached scored twice, while Ferri played the entire game and made eight saves for the Eagles.
