ODU Continues Road Trip at Longwood Thursday

FARMVILLE, Va. - The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team continues their in-state road trip with a visit to Longwood University this Thursday, March 13 at 4 p.m.

ODU (2-4) played Liberty University last Sunday and came out on top with a 11-9 win. ODU's junior attacker Jessica Liberty scored a season high four goals and freshman midfielder Megan Topper added a season high three assists, as ODU came back from trailing 9-6 to win. Freshman goalkeeper Maggi Buckley also picked up her first career win at Old Dominion.

"We are on Spring break right now so we had a little more time to rest," said ODU Head Coach Heather Holt, "and it will be nice to retouch and refocus on our whole game before we play Longwood Thursday."

Liberty leads the Lady Monarchs with 18 points and 11 goals. Senior co-captain Emily Austerberry leads ODU with ten draw controls and 30 shots. Buckley leads ODU with 12 ground balls.

Series Record: ODU Leads 3-2. Both schools have played each other the last five seasons.

Previous Meeting at Longwood: ODU won 21-6. ODU's Rebecca Hartrum and Rebecca Reymann each scored three goals and Emily Austerberry added two to lift the Lady Monarchs to victory. ODU is 2-0 all-time while visiting Longwood.

Longwood Players to Watch: Junior midfielder Kacey Norwood leads the Lancers with 14 goals and 23 points on 27 shots. Junior midfielder Liz Trainer leads Longwood with 11 draw controls, while sophomore midfielder Shiloh McKenzie adds the most ground balls with 12. Junior Goalkeeper Christian Acker is 1-4 on the year with a 13.10 goals against average and has made 39 saves (.368 save percentage).

Scouting the Lancers: Longwood has lost their last three games to Virginia Tech (15-8), George Mason (13-12) and Jacksonville (22-8). Their last home game vs. George Mason went to triple overtime as Norwood tallied five goals in that game.
