ATLANTA, Ga. – More records fell for the Old Dominion University swimming team Friday night at the Conference USA Championships. Sidni Hoxha set the meet and school record to win the 200-freestyle while Vitor Sa set the school record in the 100-Fly, with both times NCAA B-cut results.
After qualifying in the sixth position for the 200-Free, Hoxha put together a C-USA record-setting time of 1:36.14 to squeak past FAU’s Matthieu Burtez by .04.
Sa delivered a school record time of 48.15 in the 100-Fly to earn a fourth place position while Jason Zeidler earned an NCAA_B-cut time in the 100-Breast with a time of 54.93 to finish in fifth place. Behind Zeidler, Jason Haigh finished seventh and Eddie Hubert took eighth.
Diver Rachel Eckert followed up a first place finish in the 3-meter dive with a second place in the 1-meter dive.
The night started with the 400 IM where Reed Mathews brought home a fifth place finish while Richie Smith was eighth and Chris Prewitt ninth.
Just behind Sa in the 100-Fly was Francisco Byrne, who swam a time of 45.73 for a fifth place finish while Daniel Chalfant swam a time of 50.39 for 10th.
In the women’s 100-backstroke, Colleen VandePoel earned a sixth place finish in a time of 55.76.
Francisco Byrne finished fourth in the men’s 100-backstroke in a time of 50.54 while Ryan Telep finished in a tie for eighth, coming in at 52.23.
In the men’s 3-meter dive, Danny Rabe brought home a sixth place mark for the Monarchs.
The final event of the night was the 400-medley relay, with the women’s squad taking a seventh place spot while the men finished in second.
The final day of the C-USA Championships start tomorrow at 10 a.m., with the finals starting at 6 p.m.
