NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (13-14, 6-7) will battle it out with the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, February 26, at the Ted Constant Convocation Center at 7:00 p.m.  

ALL-TIME SERIES
(15-5, LA Tech)
Old Dominion and LA Tech have met a total of 20 times prior to Wednesday night’s ballgame, as the Lady Techsters have won 15 of the 20 matchups. The two teams first met during the 1978-79 season and then most recently squared off on Nov. 11, 2011 in the Paradise Jam. Louisiana Tech and ODU have met twice in the NCAA Tournament (1983 and 2000), with each team winning one of those contests.

Karen Barefoot Claims Win No. 250
When the Lady Monarchs defeated Marshall 65-52 in overtime on February 1, at the Ted Constant Center, the victory gave ODU head coach, Karen Barefoot, 250 career wins.

The All Star Girls Report has released their top 115 schools’ incoming recruiting classes for 2014 and has ranked the Old Dominion University women’s basketball team No. 43, which is the top ranked team in Conference USA.

Kelley Becomes First Basketball Player in School’s History to Garner ‘C-USA Player of the Week’ Honors
On December 9, 2013, Old Dominion University’s junior forward Shae Kelley was named C-USA Player of the Week. For the two games that week, Shae averaged 25 points, 14.5 rebounds, four assists, three steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game and shot an average of 56.4% from the floor.

Former CAA Rookie of the Year, Ashley Betz-White Will Redshirt 2013-14 Season
On January 29th, Old Dominion University women’s basketball head coach, Karen Barefoot announced that the Lady Monarch’s all-conference junior guard, Ashley Betz-White, will redshirt this season due to bilateral stress fractures in her lower legs.

Lady Monarch’s 2013-14 Education Day
The women’s basketball team had 8,086 elementary school children at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Dec. 4, 2013 for its third annual Education Day Game with the Norfolk Public Schools. The game marked the Lady Monarchs’ highest attended game since the Ted opened in 2002.

The 2013-14 Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters (8-18, 3-10)
Teresa Weatherspoon is entering her sixth season at her alma mater as the LA Tech Women’s Basketball Coach. Weatherspoon, a former WNBA player and Olympic Gold medalist led LA Tech to the NCAA Tournament in her first season as a head coach.

Junior forward Whitney Frazier leads the team with 16.2 points per game to go along with her 9.9 rebounds per game. Junior guard Chrisstasia Walter, freshman guard JaQuan Jones and sophomore guard Lulu Perry all average in double figures in scoring.

LA Tech is currently 3-10 in the conference and 8-18 overall. Louisiana Tech is coming off a 61-56 loss to Rice at the Thomas Assembly Center. The last time the Lady Techsters were on the road they defeated Tulsa by an 82-75 overtime final. Walter led the team in scoring with a career-high 32 points, while adding eight rebounds, six assists, four steals and two blocks, which ended the team’s 14-game road losing streak.

In the C-USA, the Lady Techsters are 12th in scoring offense with 62.8 points per game, while they are also sixth in the league in free throw percentage (.706). Louisiana Tech is tied with Old Dominion for fifth in the conference in rebounds per game (41.2) and fifth in the conference in offensive rebounds per game with 14.85.
