Norfolk Va. – The Old Dominion Tennis Monarchs (6-2) will see their first Conference USA action of the season on Saturday, February 22, at 1:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center against the Roadrunners of UTSA (3-4). ODU will remain at home for another match on Sunday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m. against George Washington (1-4).

About the Tennis Monarchs (6-2)
The Old Dominion men’s tennis team has won six of their first eight matches this season. So far this season, the Tennis Monarchs have taken down Howard (7-0), Richmond (5-2), Norfolk State (6-1), Morgan State (7-0), UMBC (4-3) and most recently, Temple (6-1). Their only losses were against No. 46 ranked Georgia Tech (2-5) last weekend, and No. 55 Princeton (2-5). The Monarchs fought hard against the nationally ranked Yellow Jackets, gaining two singles’ victories from No. 44 Carlos Lopez Villa and Zvonimir Podvinski, to go with a double’s victory by Darragh Glavin and Koen Wiggemans.

The Monarchs are led by No. 44 ranked Villa who is 8-0 on the season and has only given up one set so far this season. Podvinski (7-1) has been very consistent for Old Dominion and has only lost one match this season. Podvinski’s double’s partner, Dante Terenzio also has a winning record at 5-3, and together as a doubles team they are 6-2 overall. Walk-ons Daniel Abegg and Abdoulaye Camara are both 1-0 on the season.

About the UTSA Roadrunners (3-4) – Saturday, February 22 at 1:00 p.m.
The Roadrunners are led by the No. 16 doubles pair of Joel Rubio and Tomas Stillman (6-0), who are unbeaten on the season. UTSA is coming off a statement win at No. 69 Samford, in which UTSA prevailed 4-3. The Roadrunners are coached by fourth year head coach Jeff Kader. Kader led UTSA to a Southland Conference Tournament Championship in 2012 and a third place finish in the Western Athletic Conference tournament.

About the George Washington (1-4) – Sunday February 23 at 11:00 a.m.
The Colonials are coming off a loss to No. 55 Princeton (0-4) in the ECAC Indoor Championship. G.W. is led by No. 79 singles player Francisco Diaz and reigning A-10 Rookie Performer of the Week Julius Tverijonas. The two are also a successful doubles pair with a record of 4-1. George Washington has also faced the likes of No. 63 Dartmouth (L, 0-4), No. 45 BYU (L, 3-4), and No. 62 Cornell (L, 4-1). Greg Munoz is in his eighth season as head coach of the men's tennis team at George Washington University. Munoz led the Colonials to their fourth straight Atlantic 10 Championship match in 2013. They captured the A-10 Championship in 2011 and in 2012. Munoz was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year in 2012.
