Men's Tennis Travels to No. 46 Georgia Tech Sun. at Noon

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Old Dominion University men’s tennis team will put their 6-1 overall record on the line against No. 46 Georgia Tech (4-0) at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex on Sunday, February 16, at 12:00 p.m.

For Old Dominion head coach Aljosa Piric, he will be returning to place where he worked as an assistant coach for three seasons, before taking over at ODU. At Georgia Tech, Piric was an assistant coach for Kenny Thorne, the 2011 ITA Men's Coach of the Year. During his three years in Atlanta, Georgia Tech improved its national ranking from 49th in 2009 to 25th in 2010 and then to No. 13 this past season. Piric coached three-time All-American in Guillermo Gomez, the ITA National Indoor Championship finalist, ranked fifth nationally in 2010. Piric also coached Juan Spir and Kevin King who were All-Americans in 2011 and NCAA doubles tournament semifinalists, with a national ranking of ninth.

So far this season, the Tennis Monarchs have taken down Howard (7-0), Richmond (5-2), Norfolk State (6-1), Morgan State (7-0), UMBC (4-3) and most recently, Temple (6-1).

Georgia Tech (4-0) made its debut in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings last week after stunning 17th-ranked South Carolina, 4-2. The Gamecocks were the highest ranked team the Yellow Jackets had defeated since 2011. The Yellow Jackets take on No. 24 Auburn Friday night at 5:00 p.m.
