NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s basketball team (11-13, 4-6) will take on the Miners from UTEP (19-4, 8-2) Saturday, February 15, at the Ted Constant Center on Cox Channel 11 for what will be the 12th Annual Hoops for the Cure game. Saturday will also mark the one-year anniversary of ODU’s assistant to head coach, Sara Jones’ death. Jones bravely battled breast cancer for 12 years before passing away at age 40. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Cox Communications will produce and air the 12th annual Hoops for a Cure women's basketball game on Saturday night when the Lady Monarchs take on UTEP at 7 p.m. at the Ted Constant Center. Doug Ripley will provide the play by play, while Women's Basketball Hall of Famer Marianne Stanley will add color analysis. Stanley led ODU to three national championships as head coach from 1978-1987.
The game will air in Hampton Roads on Cox 11 as well as in Northern Virginia and the Roanoke markets.

Kelley Becomes First Basketball Player in School’s History to Garner ‘C-USA Player of the Week’ Honors
On December 9, 2013, Old Dominion University’s junior forward Shae Kelley was named C-USA Player of the Week. For the two games that week, Shae averaged 25 points, 14.5 rebounds, four assists, three steals and 1.5 blocked shots per game and shot an average of 56.4% from the floor.
Former CAA Rookie of the Year, Ashley Betz-White Will Redshirt 2013-14 Season
On January 29th, Old Dominion University women’s basketball head coach, Karen Barefoot announced that the Lady Monarch’s all-conference junior guard, Ashley Betz-White, will redshirt this season due to bilateral stress fractures in her lower legs.
Lady Monarch’s 2013-14 Education Day
The women’s basketball team had 8,086 elementary school children at the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Dec. 4, 2013 for its third annual Education Day Game with the Norfolk Public Schools. The game marked the Lady Monarchs’ highest attended game since the Ted opened in 2002.
The 2013-14 UTEP Miners
Keitha Adams is in her 13th season at the helm for UTEP’s women’s basketball team. During Adams’ tenure at UTEP, she has compiled an impressive 224-161 overall record and is the school’s all-time winningest coach. The Miners are led by senior forward Kayla Thorton, who averages just under 20 points a game. The team has scored 80 points or more on 14 different occasions this season. UTEP has won six games in a row and are 4-2 on the road this season. They have also posted a 20-8 record in their last 28 road games. Cameasha Turner & Kristine Vitola have started every game for the Miners
