The Monarchs lead the series, 30-18. Last year, the two split games with the Seahawks winning in Wilmington, 65-60 and ODU taking the game in Norfolk, 84-61. ODU last won in Trask in 2011-12, 53-48. This is the fourth of seven straight games against current or former CAA rivals.

Dec. 21, 1986 and 1989, the Monarchs defeat archrival VCU in the Richmond Times Dispatch tournament. ODU won the 1989 game, 77-67 and in 1986, 67-55. Both games were played in the Richmond Coliseum.
