Norfolk, Va. – The Lady Monarch basketball team is set to host Delaware State in their season opener this Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Ted Constant Center. Old Dominion asks that all fans in attendance to please wear white! ODU will look to extend the all-time series against Delaware State to 3-0, as the Lady Monarchs currently hold a 2-0 advantage. Additionally, the Lady Monarchs will be looking to keep the momentum rolling after an impressive 119-66 victory over Davis & Elkins in the squad’s exhibition game on Nov. 3.

Multimedia
Saturday's game can be viewed live with a Monarch Media subscription, which can be accessed by going to ODUSports.com, then clicking Multimedia then Monarch Media. Also, the game will be aired live on the radio on STAR 1310 AM in Hampton Roads with the voice of the Lady Monarchs, Doug Ripley on play-by-play and former Lady Monarch assistant coach, Susan Montgomery handling the color duties. Doug and Susan's radio broadcast will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a pre-game show from the Ted Constant Center. Fans can also follow all of the live action on the new ODU InGame Mobile App for Apple and Android products. The ODU InGame Mobile App includes LIVE stats for basketball (and football, soccer and baseball), links for the live radio broadcast, social media feeds and up to the minute fan information!

Saturday at 2 p.m.
On Saturday, ODU will take on Delaware State in their home opener at 2 p.m. The Hornets, who also have not yet played an official game this season, are coming off a 10-21 record from a year ago. DSU returns three starters for the 2013-14 season and welcomes back five returning letterwinners. Among them, the Hornets are led by last year’s leading-scorer Tierra Hawkins, who averaged 17.1 points per game last season and earned Second Team All-MEAC honors. Delaware State is coached by Tamika Louis in her second season. The former Junior College championship head coach will look improve upon last year’s 10-21 finish.

Last Game
Last Sunday, in front of over 2,000 fans, ODU set a Ted Constant Center record for most points scored in a game and were just three points shy of the all-time school record in any location. Impressively, seven different players turned out double-digit scoring efforts on the afternoon. Among those, junior forward and George Washington transfer Chelisa Painter quickly demonstrated her ability after racking up 22 points in 15 minutes while connecting on eight of 11 free throw attempts.

Also showcasing respectable performances were Shae Kelley and Stephanie Gardner, who each racked up 15 points. Kelley was also able to bring down nine rebounds while Gardner added eight assists. Galaisha Goodhope and Shakeva Richards each contributed 10 points, while senior guard Rebecca Allison accumulated nine.

The Lady Monarchs were statistically dominant in seemingly every category, overpowering Davis & Elkins in every facet of the game. To highlight a few, ODU had 64 rebounds in comparison to Davis & Elkins 34, racked up 23 assists compared to the Senators’ 11, and caused 22 turnovers while only turning

After Delaware State
The Lady Monarchs will be back in action on Monday, Nov. 11 when they take on Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. at the Ted Constant Center. Finally, the squad will close out November’s home schedule with Radford (Girl Scout Day) on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m.
