CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Old Dominion University women's rowing team finished in third and 13th place in the Women's Open 8+ race out of 38 competitors at the Head of the Hooch.
ODU sent two boats to compete in the Open 8+ race and boat "A" finished third overall with a bronze medal. Boat "A" was led by coxswain Lydia Cleveland, Paige Madison at stroke, Raven Howser at 7, Kara Stephan at 6, Kennedy Stafford at 5, Erin O'Connell at 4, Kelsea Shiner at 3, Missy Fruetel at 2 and Keira Flanagan at bow. The team finished with a time of 15:38.5 out of 38 other boats.
Boat "B" finished 13th in the Open 8+ race with a time of 16:07.8 and were led by coxswain Nicole Sicurella, Colleen Rennie at stroke, Jenna Sterling at 7, Ashley Nardiello at 6, Shannon La Sala at 5, Sabrina Paulsen at 4, Carlie Cohen at 3, Jessica Donlan at 2 and Chelsea Trice at stroke.
Yesterday Old Dominion finished in first place in both the Women's Club 4+ and the College & Club Novice 8+. The gold medal in the Novice 8+ race comes a week after the team won at the Head of the Schuylkill and is the second straight year at the Head of the Hooch that an Old Dominion team has won.
