12th Monarchs,From your 2013 Old Dominion Monarchs a big thank you for an outstanding 8-4 season! Six sellouts this year, 35 consecutive sellouts at home in our five years as a program, and the only team in the history of college football that can say every home game we have ever played has been in front of a sellout crowd. We are all very proud and very grateful and I hope you all know how much that means to everyone here at Old Dominion University. 2013 did not end the way we would have hoped for at North Carolina. We are all hurt, disappointed, and frustrated with our final game. However, as I always tell our players, adversity defines your character. Our goal is to turn this setback into the greatest comeback story ever written. We return 79 players in 2014, 33 of them played for the first time in a college football game in 2013. We will return our largest senior class in the history of our program with starters Taylor Heinicke, Rick Lovato, Eriq Lewis, Josh Mann, Reggie Owens, Larry Pinkard, Blair Roberts, Andre Simmons, Chris Smith, Preston Smith and Antonio Vaughan leading the way. We have 57 total players returning that played for Old Dominion in 2013. I have never been more excited going into an off-season then I am right now! All of our players are headed home for a much needed break to spend time with their families. Our players have been playing and practicing football since August 4th. They need time to catch their breath before they return to finish strong academically this semester. Our coaches need some time as well before we all hit the road for recruiting. I hope you all enjoy this holiday with your families and we look forward to seeing you all at our spring game April 12th! “AIM HIGH”
