CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The Old Dominion women's rowing team will be competing in the Rivanna Romp on Sunday, Nov. 17 on the Rivanna Reservoir.
Old Dominion has three boats competing during the day. Teams competing in the 2013 Rivanna Romp include: Virginia, Louisville, Penn, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Old Dominion.
The Lady Monarchs competed two weeks ago at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tennessee and came away with two gold medals and a bronze medal in three of the six races the team competed in. ODU finished in first place in the Women's Club 4+ and the College and Club Novice 8+. Old Dominion won bronze the next day in the Women's Open 8+ race.
"Everyone is really excited to race this weekend," ODU co-captain Paige Madison said. "Not only do we get to go up against the national champion but also Oklahoma who is in our conference. After such a strong performance at the Head of the Hooch, I'm excited to see how the rest and extra practice improves our performance. The team will do what it does best, race. We know how to win and that's all we need to do."
ODU will compete in these races on Sunday:
Varsity Eight race with 17 entries: Begins at 9:00 a.m.
*ODU has two boats competing in this event
Varsity Four, pairs and doubles race with 28 entries: Begins at 10:30 a.m.
