AKRON, OHIO—ODU sophomore Ashton Newsom and freshman Thomas Henderson are tied for 15 after two rounds of the Firestone Invitational. The Monarchs as a team are in seventh place.
Newsom shot 74-73 for 147 and Henderson 71-76 for 147, trailing tournament leaderco-leaders Matt Green of Kansas State and Stuart Grehan of Eastern Michigan by seven strokes. Junior Jamison Randall is tied for 20th after shooting 72-76 for 148.
As a team, ODU shot 294 in the first round and 300 in the second for 594 after two rounds. Washington State leads the event by eight strokes over second place Kansas State.
