NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University wrestling team held their annual Blue-Silver Intrasquad scrimmage Wednesday night. The event featured nine different matchups.
With more than two hundred people in attendance Michael Hayes began the night with a 12-0 major decision over Nathan Coburn at 133 pounds. Hayes would then go on to compete against Scott Festejo and Hayes would pin him at 3:39.
Kevin Johnson earned a close 4-3 decision over Josh Clark in the 149 weight class. Johnson would go on to beat Alexander Richardson 2-0 via decision in an extremely close match.
Chris Mecate had no problems with Jacob Kingett winning an 8-2 decision at 141 pounds. Tristan Warner saw his first action since the start of 2012 and beat Devin Geoghegan 9-2 via decision.
165 pound redshirt junior Marcus Johnson won in a close 3-2 decision over redshirt sophomore Dillon Geoghegan. Johnson finally got the better of Geoghegan after the match went into a second thirty seconds of the tiebreaker. In the heavyweight class Matt Tourdot edged Lucas Ryan by a 2-1 decision.
One of the matchups of the night featured redshirt freshman Kevin Beazley against redshirt junior Jacob Henderson. In another very close finish Beazley won a 3-2 decision.
