During fall camp, ODUSports.com featured one Monarch a day in a "Get to Know Your Monarchs" segment.  That will continue during the season, as we get to know junior cornerback, Eriq Lewis

Eriq Lewis/CB/Washington, D.C.

Q: What is your major? My major is park and recreation with a focus in therapeutic recreation.

Q: What do you want to do with that? I want to help little kids with special needs. Particularly kids with ADHD and ADD. As well as kids with disabilities.

Q: Coming from DC – why did you choose ODU? I chose ODU because it was a little bit closer to home than all my other offers. I felt welcomed by the coaching staff and it was just a home feeling.

Q: What’s the best part about living in DC? The city! I just love the city. Getting on the bus, the train, the people – all that.

Q: What is your favorite memory at ODU so far? My favorite memory so far would have to be the game versus JMU, the 23-20 victory. That was a big win.

Q: Did you play any other sports growing up? I ran track and played basketball here and there.

Q: What’s your favorite meal? My favorite meal would be going to Ruth’s Chris and get the T-bone steak with the mashed potatoes and broccoli. That’s the best meal ever!

Q: Throughout your college career, which game do you feel like was your best? I did my best in the William & Mary game. I had two interceptions in that game my freshman year.

Q: If you could meet any athlete, who would it be? I’d want to meet Kobe Bryant because he’s my favorite player.

Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals? Yeah, I have to eat a bag of skittles before the game, I listen to three songs in particular and I pray.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years? I see myself either being a principal at some high school or a coach.

Q: What is the biggest advice you could give to young football players today? Just work hard at everything you do. Somewhere, somebody is doing something to get better and you have to be that somebody.

Q: Who is your biggest inspiration? My mother, by far is my biggest inspiration.

Q: What is one thing you can’t live without? I can’t live without my family, without a doubt.

Q: What’s your favorite movie? My favorite movie is Forrest Gump.

Q: What has been your favorite game this season so far? My favorite game so far would have to be the Liberty game. The homecoming game, when we rallied back for the win.

Q: If you could go on vacation anywhere in the world where would you go? I would go to Dubai or something like that.

Q: What’s something you would like to say to the 12th monarchs? I love y’all. Thank you. I appreciate all the help from everybody.
