NORFOLK, VA-- ODU senior goalkeeper Sean Stowe (Midlothian, VA.) has been named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. The ODU Soccer Monarchs, winners of three straight and four of their last five host Marshall Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex. ODU is 29th in the latest College Soccer News poll,
Stowe came up with a career high tying seven saves in the Monarchs 1-0 victory at FIU Saturday night, while playing a man down in the final 20-plus minutes of the match. Stowe, who was also the Defensive Player of the Week back on Sept. 20th is third in C-USA with 30 saves and seventh in the league with a 1.25 goals against average.
Wednesday night will be only the second meeting between ODU and Marshall. The two teams met in 1983, with ODU winning, 1-0.
Marshall is 2-7-5 overall and 0-2-2 in C-USA. Jack Hopkins leads the Thundering Herd with three goals, followed by Zach Hunter and Jahvon Allison with two each, while Daniel Jodah leads the team with three saves.
ODU senior Tim Hopkinson leads the league with five game-winning goals and shares the goal scoring lead of nine with Cristian Mata of Tulsa and Freddy Ruiz of UAB.
