CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Old Dominion University wide receiver Blair Roberts and kicker Jarod Brown earned College Football Performance Awards Honorable Mention honors for their outings in ODU’s 35-24 setback at Pittsburgh.
Roberts caught five passes for a team-high 97 yards and hauled in a 47-yard touchdown pass from Taylor Heinicke. It was Roberts’ team-leading sixth TD catch of the season.
Brown kicked a career-long 54-yard field goal to put ODU on top 10-0 in the first quarter. The career long boot was also the longest field goal ever made, professional or college, at Heinz Field. The longest previous kick was by Pittsburgh Steelers kicker Jeff Reed in 2011 against the Atlanta Falcons. Brown was a perfect 3-for-3 on extra points and also recovered an onsides kick that led to an ODU touchdown.
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday to face cross-town foe, Norfolk State at 1 p.m.
