NORFOLK, VA—The Old Dominion University Men’s golfer squad will host the fourth annual ODU/Outerbanks Golf Invitational, Oct. 20-22 at the Kilmarlic Golf Course in Powells Point, NC.
There will be 18 teams competing for the title which include: Bowling Green, Delaware, Drake, Drexel, Elon, George Mason, George Washington, Hartford, Hofstra, Jacksonville, James Madison, Longwood, Loyola, Maryland, Marshall, Radford, VCU and host ODU.
VCU comes in with the tournament’s highest ranking at 78 by the latest Golfstat and 86th by GolfWeek national rankings, followed by Hartford at 96 by Golfstat. Matt Ball leads VCU with a 72.5 stroke average while Hartford sophomore Evan Russell currently ranks 19th nationally by Golfweek and 13th by Golfstat, as he has finished in the top-two as an individual in each of his last four tournaments for the Hawks. Russell comes into the Outerbanks with a 69.7 stroke average. Marshall's Brian Anania comes to the event after being named C-USA Golfer of the Week for the second straight week. Last week, he won the Bearcat Invitational title with a 6-under-par 210, which includes a 68 in the final round.
The Monarchs are led by junior Jamison Randall (Cumberland, RI.) who has been the Monarchs top golfer in two of the three tournaments thus far this Fall with a 72.5 stroke average. He tied for 11th at the Golfweek Challenge along with freshman David Langley (Buckinghamshire, England).
The Monarchs have finished third in each of the last two seasons. Teams tee off Sunday at 8:30 a.m. from the first and 10th tees.
