During fall camp, ODUSports.com featured one Monarch a day in a "Get to Know Your Monarchs" segment.  That will continue during the season, as we get to know freshman safety, Daquin Moore.

Daquin Moore/S/Hampton, Va.

Q. What are you studying here at ODU? I plan to study psychology with the hopes of becoming a Psychologist.

Q.  What was one of your favorite things to do growing up in Hampton? I loved getting to play rec football and sandlot football, it was always fun!

Q. If you could play for an NFL team who would you want to play for? My favorite team, the Atlanta Falcons.

Q. What was the best part of your high school football days? I liked getting to go out and play football with the guys who I had grown up with and became my best friends. Some of them are playing college football as well.

Q. What do you think about the move to Conference USA? I think its great. It’s a great opportunity for us to learn and grow. It’s a battle but one I know that we can overcome.

Q. What is one thing that makes you unique? I’d say my personality. I can make you laugh at any moment!

Q. What has been the most memorable part of your freshman year so far? I’d say just getting to experience the campus atmosphere. I love walking around campus and that it’s a different experience than at home.

Q. What was it like walking out on the field during your first ever home game?  It was an exciting, amazing atmosphere! The crowd was excited and brought a lot of energy. It made me feel really confident out there.

Q. How are you personally preparing for the game Saturday against Pitt? Just getting my process down. If you do things how you’ve always done them you’ll get out there and be successful, that’s what I plan on doing.

Q. What is one of your most embarrassing moments either in practice or in a game? Any time I miss a tackle. I always feel embarrassed when I do that. It’s bad because I know everyone is watching me.

Q. What is one thing that you have always wanted to learn how to do?  I’ve always wanted to learn to unicycle. It seems like you need a lot of balance to do that and I definitely don’t have that right now, but I hope to one day!

Q. What do you think the most valuable skill a safety should possess? You have to have peripheral vision. If you can see the whole field then you can be anywhere you need to be.

Q. What are your plans after you graduate? I really want to be involved in the field of psychology and start my own practice.

Q. To date, what has been one of your favorite football games to play in and why? I’d have to say the Liberty game. It was so close until the very end and you just live for games like that, with that level of competition.

Q. If you could trade places with any other sports star, who would it be and why? It would be Lebron of course! I love football but he’s the best!

Q. What got you interested in football? It was always apart of my life, weather I was playing rec or sandlot, it was always around me so I think that’s what kept me involved.

Q. What advice would you give to yourself as a young football player? Don’t get too frustrated about things because it will all work out in the end if you continue to work hard.

Q. Did you ever play any other sports growing up? I played football of course and some basketball and baseball, I’ve got a bit of a pitchers arm on me!

Q. Which one would you prefer: being inducted into the Hall of Fame or having a Super Bowl win? Probably a Super Bowl win, it’s all about that. Some people don’t get remembered for being in the Hall of Fame but you get remembered for being on that Super Bowl winning team.

Q. If you could trade positions with anyone on the team who would it be? I’d say wide receiver. I used to play that back in high school so I know the in’s and out’s of that and I really enjoyed playing that position.

Q. How do your teammates push you to become a better person and a better player? They just tell me to keep on working and keep on pushing it, to never stop.

Q. What was the most appealing thing about ODU during the recruiting process? I’d say that the most appealing thing was that it was so close to home. I wanted to stay pretty close to home.

Q. What is your favorite part of game day? I’d say getting to walk through the tunnel. Closely followed by getting to see all the fans faces as we do the Monarch Walk.

Q. What’s it like being one of the new kids on the team? It’s not too bad. They treat me with a lot of respect around here and I really try to live up to their expectation of the man I’m supposed to be.

Q. Who on the team would be elected as more energetic and enthusiastic than Big Blue? I’d say E. Lew (Eriq Lewis).  That guy is pretty crazy.

Q. What is one thing you’d like to say to all the 12th Monarchs out there? We’re going to keep fighting and you guys keep fighting with us!
