Hept, Villagra Earn Big East Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Megan Hept was named Big East Defensive Player of the Week and junior forward Rosario Villagra was selected to the Big East Honor Roll.

This past weekend, No. 20 Old Dominion played Villanova and No. 17 Temple on the road. Hept did not allow a goal in either game, helping the Lady Monarchs to a 1-0 victory over Temple and a 6-0 win over Villanova. She made five saves against Temple and two saves against Villanova. Hept has not allowed a goal in the last 311 minutes of play and has recorded four straight shutouts. This is the first time this season Hept was named Defensive Player of the Week.

Villagra scored the only goal of the game in the win against Temple. She also scored a goal in the win against Villanova on Friday. Villagra was named to the Big East Honor Roll for the third straight week and is her fourth overall appearance this season.

Marie Elena Bolles of Connecticut was named BIG EAST Player of the week. Joining Villagra on the honor roll were Roisin Upton (Connecticut), Laura Rose (Rutgers), Sophie Wright (Rutgers) and Amber Youtz (Temple).

Old Dominion hosts William and Mary Friday at 5 p.m. and will be their charity’s game for pancreatic cancer. The team will be wearing purple socks. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and can visit this link to donate-www.pancan.org 

 ODU also travels to College Park to face No. 1 Maryland on Sunday at 1 p.m.
