CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A trio of Old Dominion University football players earned honors from College Football Performance awards on Monday, as Taylor Heinicke was named the National Quarterback of the Week and D.J. Simon and Colby Goodwyn received honorable mention honors at linebacker and running back, respectively.

Heinicke completed 28-of-33 passes on the evening for 365 yards and two TD passes.  The junior quarterback also rushed for 30 yards and a touchdown.  In the second quarter, Heinicke eclipsed the 9,000 career passing yards and is fourth among active FBS quarterbacks in career passing yards with 9,099.

Goodwyn accounted for 96 total yards in the 66-10 win over Albany, accounting for three touchdowns.  The senior rushed for 42 yards and three scores and caught four passes for 54 yards.

Simon notched a career-best nine tackles, recorded 1.5 tackles for loss and his second interception of the season in the victory.

ODU hosts Liberty on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. The Monarchs will Stripe the Stadium on Saturday.  Saturday’s contest will be the annual homecoming contest and will be broadcast on Cox 114.
