Tennis Set for 2013 ITA All-American Championships

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University men's tennis team competes at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, beginning Sept. 28 through Oct. 6. ODU players Carlos Lopez Villa, Jonas Kuwert, Dante Terenzio and Zvonimir Podvinski will compete for the Monarchs.

Lopez Villa will compete in the Qualifying Draw, which begins Sept.30 and runs through Oct. 2. Kuwert, Terenzio and Podvinski will compete in the Pre-Qualifying Draw, which goes from Sept. 28-29.

The singles field at this year's ITA Men's All-American Championships includes the entire top 32 from the ITA men's preseason rankings. In addition to Old Dominion, Conference USA will be represented by Tulsa, East Carolina, Middle Tennessee, Rice and Tulane.

FRIENDS OF ODU TENNIS TOURNAMENT
The Old Dominion University women’s tennis team is their Friends of ODU Tennis Tournament. The Friends of Tennis Tournament will begin on Sept. 27 and run through the 29th. The event will be held at the Virginia Beach Tennis and Country Club. There will be separate tournaments for men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles. The entry deadline is Wed., Sept. 25. Participants can call Nancy Garber, Claudette Sealy or Sugie Jarrett at the VBTCC 757.481.7545 to sign up. Starting times available after noon on Thursday, September 26 by calling 757.481.7545.

NEXT WEEK AT UVA CLASSIC
Old Dominion will compete at the UVA Fall Classic in Charlottesville, Va., beginning Friday, Oct. 4. Junior Carlos Lopez Villa is ranked No. 59 in the ITA preseason rankings.

UP NEXT
The Monarchs head to Winston Salem, North Carolina for the Wake Forest Invitational on Oct. 11-13.
