NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University football team practice in pads for the first time this camp on Friday morning.

The pads went on and the heat intensified, as ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder had several team periods with full tackling a part of the segment.

In the first segment, Gary Scruggs helped the defense start strong with a tackle for loss before David Washington hit Gerard Shillow for a 30-yard gain.  Gerard Johnson took a carry around the left side for a 15-yard score while Washington hit Zach Pascal for two-straight pass completions and C.J. Bradshaw had a nice gain on a run up the middle.

Later in the practice, John Darr dropped the running back for a loss and also had a sack to begin the last team drill.  Alex Johnson had a nice practice, producing a sack and a half, combining on a sack with Malik Gumbs.

The Monarchs hold their first two-a-day practice of camp on Saturday.
