NORFOLK, Va. – Former Lady Monarch lacrosse players, Jordynn Collins and Shelby Davis were named to the IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll this week.

The IWLCA honored 190 student-athletes from 68 different institutions with inclusion in the 2013 IWLCA Division I Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically. Among the 190 student-athletes are 51 who were members of teams that advanced to the NCAA tournament.

Collins reigns from Monrovia, Md. and studied sport management and marketing while at Old Dominion University. Last season, Collins saw action in 16 games, starting in 13 of them as team co-captain. She scored 10 goals and added an assist last year. Collins also tallied a career-high three goals in the win over George Mason on Senior Night. The co-captain scooped up four ground balls, caused two turnovers and won two draw controls in 2012-13.

A native of Elmira, N.Y., Davis studied psychology and criminal justice at ODU. Davis started in all 17 games while serving as team co-captain last season. She scored a goal against Longwood and added an assist against George Mason in the win on Senior Night. The co-captain was second on the team for draw controls, winning 29 and was also third on the squad for caused turnovers, tallying 13. Davis picked up 27 ground balls as well.
